Organizational Setting

 

The SSC and Regional Office in Budapest provides language training to FAO staff in 5 of its official languages: Arabic, English, French, Russian and Spanish to ensure that the Organization maintains the high level of multilingualism required to fulfil its mandate. Language teachers provide 3 hours of teaching per week per group and depending on the language, may teach up to 3 groups.

 

Reporting Lines

The language teacher reports to the Administrative Officer of the Shared Services Centre.

 

Technical Focus

Preparation and delivery of language classes, use of the latest updates in teaching methodologies if relevant

 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Teaches group and/or individual language courses.
  • Attends the teachers’ monthly meetings.
  • Updates and presents a course syllabus for each course taught during the contract (group and individual).
  • Keeps each class folder updated with syllabus, attendance and activity logs.
  • Sends lesson log to students after group courses
  • Updates and corrects the end of session test for each student.
  • Provides student’s progress report (next level, pass/fail and comments) at the end of each group and/or individual class as well as an evaluation for the learner.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

 

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in education, language or related area
  • Five years of relevant experience in teaching language in an international environment
  • Working knowledge of Arabic, English, French, Russian or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other.

  • Extent of experience teaching in an international multicultural workplace
  • Proven experience as a team player with sensitivity in dealing with different nationalities and cultural backgrounds
